Match Day is a 24-hour online giving event that supports 21 food and shelter agencies in southeastern Wisconsin that are helping meet individuals’ basic needs. Led by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, and in partnership with the Brewers Community Foundation and other local funders, the event is designed to raise awareness of the continuing struggle many of our neighbors still face and raise support for these agencies that are providing them with lifesaving services. Visit www.MatchDayMKE.org for the list of agencies.

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation created the Basic Needs Fund in 2008 to help nonprofits within metro Milwaukee address urgent food and shelter needs due to the economic crisis. Since 2008, the fund has made more than $2 million in grants. The gifts made to the Basic Needs Fund will be equally divided among the 21 organizations.
The “Golden Ticket” prize is new in 2013, thanks to the generosity of the Brewers Community Foundation. At eight different times throughout the day – 7 to 8 a.m., 8 to 9 a.m., 10 to 11 a.m., 12 to 1 p.m., 4 to 5 p.m., 5 to 6 p.m., 7 to 8 p.m. and 10 to 11 p.m. – a donor’s gift will be chosen at random from the online donations made through www.MatchDayMKE.org to have an additional $1,000 given to that chosen charity. Golden Ticket winners are also eligible to win prizes. Golden Tickets are not part of the match pool and are in addition to any portion of the match pool an agency receives.
The minimum donation is $10. There is no maximum donation.
Only donations made online on March 14, 2013 with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) or debit card will be accepted.
Yes, a fee of 2.9 percent. However, the Foundation match is based on the total gift before fees.
All gifts will be matched proportionately, based on the total amount of money raised by each agency on Match Day. For example, if the total amount raised by the community is $500,000, and an agency raises 10 percent of that total, or $50,000, then the agency will receive 10 percent of the total match pool.
By April 10
All donations made via www.MatchDayMKE.org go to the Razoo Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that permits donors to advise a regranting of their donations to other IRS-recognized qualifying organizations. A fee of 2.9 percent of the donation will be deducted to cover the cost of processing the donation. Razoo Foundation will issue an e-mail acknowledgement the same day the contribution is received. Razoo Foundation will appear as the vendor on the credit card statement.
Razoo Foundation requests authorization from donors that their name, e-mail, mailing address and donation amount may be shared with the agency they choose to support. The Greater Milwaukee Foundation will have access to a donor’s name and email address to allow for prize distribution. The agency and the Foundation receive this information unless the donor has requested to remain anonymous.
