Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee's FREE & LOCAL food bank. Half the people we help are kids and we always help for free.
MAKE SURE YOUR DONATION STAYS FREE & LOCAL!
Hunger Task Force has the responsibility of feeding more than 50,000 people in Milwaukee each month, a daunting task during challenging times. People may take for granted that Hunger Task Force will always meet local need and that no food pantry will have bare shelves.
But in 2014 this may not be the case, as Hunger Task Force scrambles to assure the safety net of services for the hungry and homeless facing tough times of its own. Think about it: food prices are up, government support is down and need remains constant.
That’s why we are grateful you have chosen to support Hunger Task Force. We have been your locally established food bank that has served Milwaukee since 1974. Understanding that we have never charged membership, storage or delivery fees to the pantries, shelters and soup kitchens should strengthen your resolve to choose us on Match Day.
Thank you for your support. If you would like to learn more about Hunger Task Force or get involved, visit http://www.HungerTaskforce.org!
Hunger Task Force Mission
Hunger Task Force believes that every person has a right to adequate food obtained with dignity. Hunger Task Force works to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve a hunger free community tomorrow.
In 2013, Hunger Task Force delivered over 10 million pounds of food to our network of 80 food pantries, meal programs and homeless shelters, completely FREE of charge. We are locally founded, locally funded and locally run, for 40 years we have been feeding Milwaukee. We've been a voice for the hungry, promoting socially sound policies that could end hunger in our community. More than 5,000 people volunteer each year, putting their time and talent to work across all areas of the agency. Because we charge no fees and receive no United Way funding, most of our budget is raised through ongoing solicitations from foundations, corporations, labor unions and individuals.
Hunger Task Force Leadership
Sherrie Tussler has been the executive director of Hunger Task Force since 1997. She is our organization’s chief leader. She is a decision maker, lobbyist and fund raiser. In 2011, Sherrie was named as one of Milwaukee’s Women of Influence by the Milwaukee Business Journal.
